Protect Mecklenburg Children! No "transgender" restrooms
Protect Mecklenburg Children

Transgender restrooms are nothing less than a mockery of the good citizens of Mecklenburg County. This all directly follows in the cultural wake of the recent ruling of the US Supreme Court on same-sex marriages. North Carolina should have resisted that ruling and upheld the overwhelming vote by our state against same-sex marriage.

Same-Sex Marriage can be Reversed!

Congress has Full Power to Limit the Supreme Court

Our Congress must lead to protect the rights of the people of Mecklenburg and the entire nation by upholding traditional marriage, sexual distinctions and our way of life by using the tools and remedies so clearly given them in the US Constitution. One such tool is the Exceptions Clause of Article III Section 2 of the Constitution -- which holds that Congress has the full power to make exceptions to the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.

Congress has other multiple tools

The Constitution has given Congress multiple tools, as yet another strategy, mentioned by conservative legal scholars, is to use the "power of the purse" given by the Constitution exclusively to Congress and to simply pass an appropriations bill disallowing any funds from being appropriated from the US Treasury to any Federal authority or office for use in implementing the Obergefell same-sex decision. So, whether by limiting the appellate jurisdiction or by withholding appropriations Congress has the tools to see that same-sex marriage is again banned by law.

Constitution not Self-Enforcing

However, it cannot be said enough that the Constitution is not self-enforcing. It takes our elected officials to see that its provisions, such as the Bill of Rights, are upheld. It requires action -- this cannot be stressed enough. The Constitution does not enforce itself -- It only protects us if its provisions are enforced.

Constitution Provides Protection

Our forefathers established a Constitution to protect from tyrants. Our state, North Carolina, took the lead in following Patrick Henry's rejection of the original Constitution, demanding it be amended to have a Bill of Rights attached. And two years later we accepted a revised Constitution, now with 10 amendments -- a Bill of Rights -- to protect our freedoms. The last (10th) of these amendments holds all other parts of the Constitution in place, declaring that the Federal government is not to take away any of the many rights that belong to the people but are not listed specifically in the Constitution. And finally as a final layer of protection, the Constitution provides for a Balance of Powers between the legislative, executive, and judicial -- so that no one branch may ever dominate the people -- by giving provisions whereby one branch of government may take action and correct another branch of government should they abuse their power and take the rights of the people. (The Exceptions Clause is one such provision.) The government of our nation is out of balance, out of kilter.

Balance of Power is Broken

Our Congress must restore the balance of power as set forth by our Constitution -- as the correct balance between the Legislative and Judicial branches is currently broken, unbalanced, and is damaging America in addition to the Federal violation of the 10th amendment in usurping rights that belong to local and state governments.
